Lastly, let's make sure we catch up in person at SIGCSE on this as well?
I proposed a session on exactly this (POSSE) on the TOS symposium wiki
page, so if there's interest in that conversation at the unconference
(on 2/29,
http://teachingopensource.org/index.php?title=SIGCSE_2012/TOS_symposium#Proposed_Sessions
), we'll make sure that we have it.
I want to use the opportunity of face-to-face conversations to really
get that conversation moving forward, but also want to make sure the
(many!) people on this list who *won't* be at SIGCSE are also fully able
to participate. So I'll make sure we bring this mailing list thread to
the conversation, that there's some facility for realtime remote
participation (likely IRC), and that notes get sent to the list afterwards.
Phew.
So, it sounds like there's nonzero interest in continuing workshops this
summer, at least one offer to handle the admin/org side if funding's
given, enough willing instructors to staff a full teaching roster if
funding's given... what's left? I can think of...
* funding
* hosting/onsite logistics
* attendees/recruitment of attendees
Anything else? Broader thoughts on the future of POSSE (and whether
POSSE has or should have a future) in general? I'm surprised so many
people seem to be quiet on this, but it's only been two days since the
thread started. ;)
