It runs fine from a laptop, you can use this for demonstration and
also for your Moodle course development PC, once you have created
your course, back it up, then restore onto your server for everyone
to use
3 ways you can install it
1. From the Ubuntu repos, which is not the latest version
2. Install all the necessary software ( LAMP server ), then download
and manually install the latest Moodle
3. Use XAMP ( http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html ), then
download and manually install the latest Moodle
If you are using MSWindows, then there is a install package that
install everything for you
