...Part Three....

The bar had only a few old geezers in it, but with band & crew we pretty
much took it over.
Swanny, Mark & I had a quiet beer at the bar while more suggestions were
being thrown about for the rest of the video. Mike ambled over & asked if I
could get onto that 'internet thingy that you do' could I get word out for
anyone to turn up the next day at the church dressed for a funeral? Well I
could try. My mobile was rapidly dying, I got through to Emma & Andrew
Langmead before it finally gave up the ghost.
Went downstairs to see what was happening next, it was obvious that we'd all
need to be back the next day, but Ali was already booked to collect Brittany
Spears from the airport, Tad couldn't make it & Swanny had already used the
dentist as an excuse today & had a big job on at work. Mike asked if I'd be
the widow, so I called my Pete & asked if he minded me staying over night.
Good as gold he even put my hotel room on his credit card, thanks Pete :o)
Ali had the contents of Woody's pockets in a bag, as he was being turned
upside down at the time. What looked like a small white cushion, was in fact
from one of his daughters toys, when squeezed played Twinkle Little Star,
its his mobile you see. He doesn't really want one, but feels left out so he
puts it in his pocket & pretends :o)
More filming downstairs, this time a crowd scene in the bar, so along with
the band & all the crew except the director & camera folks, we got our first
parts in a Madness video. Swanny on Suggs left, me on Suggs right...perfect.
Mike wanted to know if I could get some fishnet tights, mini skirt & heels,
to be a lady of the night & the widow. No I couldn't!
More drinking upstairs & Swanny & Tad headed off home. I sat with Bedders,
Chalky, Teresa & Claire, who is a photographer & went to school with Mark &
Woody. Lots of giggles about misbehaving as youngsters, Suggs the cigarette
snaffler fairly merry now, came up with the idea of going down to the
Electric Ballroom to see a band. I was utterly finished by now, & said my
goodnights, told to be at Kenwood at 9.30am, headed out for Hendon, got my
car, got to my hotel & slumped in the bath. Pete called me to say there was
a message that Wee Stoo was coming down to the church for the shoot. I had
only come down for the day, so had no change of clothes, got a Madness
t-shirt out of the van for Friday. Didn't take long to get off to sleep,
still in a certain state of shock that the day had been as fabulous as it
had, but bloody exhausted.

I was disappointed that Swanny & Tad wouldn't be there for the following
day, apart from being a Crunch man, ex-Riffs star & Eastenders character,
not to mention a mean van driver, Tad is a lovely bloke, a lot of fun & a
pleasure to be with. It was fantastic seeing you again after all these years
Tad, hope it wont be long til we meet again :o)
Copious amounts of hugs to Swanny for inviting me down, I was really bummed
that you couldn't get down for Friday, but you definitely got on the video
:o)
There's a lot of affection for Swanny within the band, especially from Lee &
Chris, he does a hell of a lot more than just their website & sales, but is
far to modest to blow his own trumpet. He is undoubtedly the un-named member
of Crunch & a welcome member of the Madness circle. Thanks for everything
guys, you were sorely missed on Friday.
