Hey!

Good to hear everyone had a great time in Blackpool(I unfortunately wasnt able to go
:o( But look out Great Yarmouth!)

Anyway just a few things Ive seen/read/heard recently

1)Top Ten 1981 in on Channel 4 on Saturday night at 10:05, includes Madness
and...Suggs is presenting it!

2) Don't know if you've heard the OPM song Heaven is a Half-Pipe(its at number 3 i
think)but the band wanted to sample the intro to the Specials Ghost Town for it.
However Jerry Dammers refused permission because apparently he's thinking of remaking
it.Have to wait a see..

3)Read a review in Heat mag which made me laugh. There's a song in the top 20 called
Baddest,Ruffest by Backyard Dog and it was described as "a sample-manic ska romp with
a hoarse reggae MC that sounds like a bunch of jazz beards doing the Madness nutty
dance down scary cobbled streets" I havent actually heard it so I cant comment on
that description(just picture it though!) but it ws given a 4-star
rating(CAUTION:Marti Pellow's solo album was given 3!) If anyone hears it/buys it let
us know what its like. Good to see some ska back in the charts though anyway!

4)Just one more thing. Listening to XFM this morning and they have a show where they
play the most requested song. Anyway the most requested was a song called "Oh Yeah" by
Foxy Brown.Relevance? Well it samples that song we can't decide the name of ,Toots &
Maytalls 54-46 Thats my number(or is it Was my number??) Its quite a load rap song but
you can hear Toots clearly at the intro and in the backround throughout.

OK, thats all for now

Mad luv
