You can test this by adding a file ~/Desktop/test.desktop with: [Desktop Entry] Version=1.0 Type=Application Terminal=false Exec=gnome-terminal -x sudo /usr/sbin/test_script Name=Test Comment=Test Icon=un-reboot GenericName[en_CA]=Test You will notice the icon in the launcher for the normal terminal change to use the 'un-reboot' icon named in the desktop file.
