Public bug reported: I'm using Ubuntu 16.04 dev with coreutils 8.25-2ubuntu2 and uniq does not provide an option to suppress repeated lines if they are not adjacent. But this could be useful if the input can't be sorted for example on using specific commands with pipes so maybe an option for this could be added.
