There are improvements that already landed but I'm not sure if those are
already what you mentioned here since this is still in-progress, From
what's implemented right now, I'd say it was an improvement but only
while using Alt + Tab and hovering with the mouse however when you look
at the app switcher in static, it is still hard to see which app got the
focus/highlight. I saw in one of the promotional videos of the tablet
wherein the surroundings are dimmed while the highlighted/focused app is
not. I think that looks better. Would that be the plan as a permanent
solution?

Title:
Desktop-mode App switcher selector's visual design is hard to see

Status in Ubuntu UX:
  Fix Committed
Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu:
  In Progress

Bug description:
WHAT HAPPENS: The app selector visual highlight(not sure how to call
it) in the Unity8's desktop-mode app switcher is hard to see making it
difficult to determine which app you are currently selecting when
  doing Alt-Tab.

WHAT'S EXPECTED: The highlight should be obvious and can be easily
distinguishable similar to how it is in Uniy 7.
