Hi Jérôme, thanks for the bug report. The apt-daily.timer starts the
apt-daily.service, which is still running at the end of your plot. That
doesn't necessarily mean it's doing the right thing but at least it has
an opportunity to handle many of the daily tasks.

We may need to tune the rules that fire the timer to make it more likely
for updates to be installed in a timely fashion.

At least with 16.04 LTS and newer, daily updates are enabled by default.
So this already is a welcome change from previous releases when users
had to opt in to daily updates manually.

Thanks

Title:
apt-daily.service could rarely update the system

Status in apt package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
On startup of computers with hard disks, apt-daily.service could
complete before the Internet can be reached.

A HDD computer would rarely get updates if it is just started daily
after 6 am and it is running only 1 hour. Basically, the random time
between 6 am and 18 pm will rarely be between 6 and 7 am. Finally this
computer may catch a random update from time to time.
