Public bug reported: No sound. Anything. PulseAudio Volume Control shows sound going through it (sound level bar moves), but jack does not output anything. Old bugs which had the same problem with the same laptop: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1360641 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1224099
These bugs occurred on old kernel versions from 12.04 LTS and 14.04 LTS. The laptop I'm working on is on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, upgraded from Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS which was updated from Ubuntu 12.04 LTS itself. I have tried running the LiveCDs of Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS and Ubuntu 16.10 and still the laptop has no sound in the headphones jack. So, the issue remains unsolved with newer kernels or in a fresh environment.
