Title:
[karmic] No sound output with pulseaudio

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: pulseaudio

  Ubuntu 9.10 a3 updated on 04.08.2009
  pulseaudio 0.9.15-4ubuntu3
  alsa-base-1.0.20+dfsg-1ubuntu4

According to sound preferences I have output source as it says "Internal
sound card". I have HDA Intel ICH8 internal audio on HP Pavilion dv2530. When
my laptop starts I hear a "click" from the speakers like the device is in
power-saving mode (it is because it has such row in
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf). Also I hear it every time I click on an icon
in the gnome-panel for example.
The strange thing is that Rhythmbox and other apps are runnig well like there
IS all OK with the sound - but I can't hear it at all. I've installed all
pulseaudio related GUI tools to view the output levels - there're acceptable
high.
