I see the same as shown in the video in Firefox. i.e. previously you could click a link to a .deb file, use the Firefox open with dialog to select 'other', and you would be able to find gdebi in the 'recommended' or 'view all' applications. With this update, gdebi is not there and cannot be found in any way.
Downgrading to 0.9.5.7+nmu1ubuntu2 brings gdebi back into the list of available apps. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to gdebi in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1719746 Title: gdebi 0.9.5.7+nmu1ubuntu3 broke being able to open .debs on default Ubuntu desktop Status in gdebi package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I don't use gdebi but this commit looks wrong: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdebi/0.9.5.7+nmu1ubuntu3 See https://lintian.debian.org/tags/desktop-mime-but-no-exec-code.html https://standards.freedesktop.org/desktop-entry-spec/desktop-entry- spec-latest.html#mime-types (Do not be confused by the Type=MimeType deprecation.
