@Adrien Beau (adrienbeau) you can propose your fix anywhere where you want. All APT works as root, there is not security hole here. We can trust its HTTP transport.
By the way Ubuntu developers should understand that annoying bugs should be fixed as fast as possible as Critical bugs. It does not matter that such bugs do not result in data loss. Such bugs makes negative reputation of whole Ubuntu.
