It's possible, but I don't think it's likely. Can you attach a log file that shows what happens when you start with analog output selected and headphones plugged in, and then unplug them and plug them back in? When the headphones are unplugged, sound is NOT automatically switched back to the speakers. This bug started happening on my system after I upgraded from 14.04 to 15.10 so it is a regression.
