I've tried upgrading the linux-alsa-modules to the version matching my kernel, but makes no difference on a reboot. I have two sound cards as reported below, but it doesn't seem to make any difference which I select, there's still no sound. cefn@cefn-oneiric-dell:~$ lspci -v | grep -A7 -i "audio" 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 05) Subsystem: Dell Device 04b0 Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 58 Memory at f7b00000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K] Capabilities: <access denied> Kernel driver in use: snd_hda_intel Kernel modules: snd-hda-intel -- 01:00.1 Audio device: nVidia Corporation GF108 High Definition Audio Controller (rev a1) Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 17 Memory at f6080000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K] Capabilities: <access denied> Kernel driver in use: snd_hda_intel Kernel modules: snd-hda-intel 05:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd.
