Title:
[System Product Name, Realtek ALC892, SPDIF Out, Internal] Underruns,
  dropouts or crackling sound

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  desktop environment: Gnome 3
  OS: Ubuntu 11.10

Problems arise after use of volume control applet located in top-left corner
of screen.
After problems begin to occur I normally log-out of the system and then log
back in.
If i do not refresh my session by restarting the computer or logging out the
audio will continue to be plagued by a digital cracking sound.
I have similarly had problems in the past resulting from the use of the
banshee music application, although with recent updates banshee no longer
appears to cause these problems for me.

At the time of occurrence I was watching a video on YouTube while
using the volume control applet to adjust the volume.
