When using alsamixer to change volumes, I can get 5.1 sound output. But no matter what I try, it doesn't seem possible to get my mic recording anything. Other than the mic, everything seems to be working now. In Windows 7 - everything is working great, checked and double-checked. lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 9.10 Release: 9.10 uname -a Linux RedStorm 2.6.31-14-generic #48-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 16 14:05:01 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux lspci -s 01:07 -vv 01:07.0 Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs SB X-Fi Subsystem: Creative Labs Device 0031 Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR+ FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR- INTx- Latency: 64 (1000ns min, 1250ns max), Cache Line Size: 64 bytes Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 16 Region 0: I/O ports at dc00 [size=32] Region 1: Memory at f7e00000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=2M] Region 3: Memory at f0000000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=64M] Capabilities: <access denied> Kernel driver in use: SB-XFi Kernel modules: snd-ctxfi dmesg only has about a billion of these: [20225.297369] input input3: event field not found [20225.297377] input input3: event field not found ProblemType: Bug Architecture: amd64 ArecordDevices: **** List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices **** card 0: XFi [Creative X-Fi], device 0: ctxfi [Front/WaveIn] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: dan-erik 22763 F.... pulseaudio Card0.Amixer.info: Card hw:0 'XFi'/'Creative X-Fi 20K1 SB073x' Mixer name : '20K1' Components : '' Controls : 29 Simple ctrls : 10 CheckboxCommand: alsa_record_playback CheckboxDescription: Open the volume control application by right-clicking on the speaker icon in the panel and selecting "Sound Preferences".
