Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu 18.04 switching between audio devices worked flawlessly.

After upgrading to 20.04 not so much: When I try to switch between
Logitech G930 and Soundblaster X-FI Audio devices, either the system
sounds and/or programs which are already started do not playback any
sounds. In some cases, system sounds (incl. the sound test) do not play,
but programs do. It is really weird and I have a hard time reproducing
the issue as well as the solution.

Sometimes I play around with alsamixer and switch between the selected
sound devices there and afterwards switch the device in the settings
panel. It then more often than not works again as intended.

If you have any suggestions on how to run down further details for this
bug to enable you to bugfix this, tell me and I will try to provide
further info.
