So, I upgraded from 20.04 to 21.04 to answer that question. And no, it doesn't work in 21.04 hirsute either.
And now, since the last known working version 20.0.4-2ubuntu1 is not in hirsute repos I can't downgrade to a working state. :/ ``` $ apt policy mesa-vdpau-drivers mesa-vdpau-drivers: Installed: 21.0.3-0ubuntu0.3 Candidate: 21.0.3-0ubuntu0.3 Version table: *** 21.0.3-0ubuntu0.3 500 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hirsute-updates/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 21.0.1-2 500 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hirsute/main amd64 Packages $ ``` This is the o/p I get: ``` VLC media player 3.0.12 Vetinari (revision 3.0.12-1-0-gd147bb5e7e) [000055d36139f5b0] main libvlc: Running vlc with the default interface.
