Public bug reported:

rtm 162

- Open messaging app
- type a word in the send field "hello", or even a garbled long work like
"hghghghhghghghghghgh"
- double tap the word to select it (or press the Select All from the popup menu)
- press the backspace key

Expected result:
- the highlighted word should be deleted and cursor should move to the
beginning of where the highlighted word was

Actual result:
- only the last letter of the highlighted word is deleted, the selection is
removed, and the word ribbon shows new predictions for the shortened word

Note:
pressing the "Cut" option from the pop-up menu works better, in that the entire
word is properly deleted, although the cursor position is never updated.
