Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. There is not enough information to debug the reason for not being able to fork. The newest report is bug #1816525 from early 2019. Since there are no recent reports I assume that the causing reason was fixed. Therefore I am closing this bug. In case you experience it again, please report back here or open a new bug report for it.
Feel free to continue to report any other bugs you may find. ** Changed in: initramfs-tools (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid ** Summary changed: - package initramfs-tools 0.122ubuntu6 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2 + package initramfs-tools 0.122ubuntu6 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2: Cannot fork -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to initramfs-tools in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1568071 Title: package initramfs-tools 0.122ubuntu6 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2: Cannot fork Status in initramfs-tools package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: package initramfs-tools 0.122ubuntu6 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2 ProblemType: Package DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: initramfs-tools 0.122ubuntu6 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-17.33-generic 4.4.6 Uname: Linux 4.4.0-17-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu1 Architecture: amd64 Date: Fri Apr 8 19:54:03 2016 Df: Dmesg: ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2 InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-04-06 (2 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-GNOME 16.04 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Beta amd64 (20160323.1) PackageArchitecture: all RelatedPackageVersions: dpkg 1.18.4ubuntu1 apt 1.2.10 SourcePackage: initramfs-tools Title: package initramfs-tools 0.122ubuntu6 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/+bug/1568071/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
