Title:
Volume level set to the max when unlocking/rebooting if the audio
output is HDMI / Displayport ( e.g. monitor).

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
After upgrading from 24.04.1 LTS to 24.10, everytime when I
lock/suspend my laptop with the sound output set to HDMI / Displayport
(my monitor), the sound volume is set to max. Even if laptop is
  rebooted or turned on.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Have a external sound output source selected - Samsung monitor in my case.
  2. Set the volume to a low level (e.g., 20%).
  3. Lock the laptop screen (Super + L).
  4. Unlock the laptop screen.

  Expected behavior:
The volume should remain at 20%.

  Actual behavior:
The volume is set to 100% after unlocking.

  Additional information:
  - This happens every time I unlock the laptop.
  - I haven't made any custom audio configurations.
  - It doesn't happen with the built-in audio source on my HP EliteBook 840 G10.
  - It doesn't happen with the source being Bluetooth headphones.
  - If laptop goes to sleep when music is playing, the volume will be set to
MAX when locked. But after monitor goes to sleep as well, the sound source is
switched to the laptop and it's set to 20% again.
