Dear Christopher, I am using an LTS release, which as I understand it means "Long Term Support". This reply does not seem to indicate what the release claims to be. I need this laptop for work and I cannot simply re- install/upgrade the operating system.
I have given full reports of all my logs and there was no debugging attempt on your side. Instead, you mark it as incomplete, even though I have given all the log files available. Could you instead only for a small period of time try to help me debug it and fix it? Or provide any support at all, instead of "Please update the OS"? I tried connecting an external monitor to my laptop using the HDMI output while running Unity. I used an HDMI->VGA converter to connect it to the monitor's VGA input. When I do that (before I try to type xrandr or try to configure the new monitor), I'm back to the login screen, being shown in both my laptop screen and the external monitor and both screens are frozen. I can only do a hard reboot at that stage. This is the first time I tried this. I expect apport will include more information from dmesg, Xorg logs, etc, but if it doesn't please let me know and I can try to provide more information.
