Ubuntu 8.10 is no longer supported, do you still have this problem on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS or higher? Does it also happen if you convert the labels to PDF first and print those in evince? Please provide https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems#Capturing_print_job_data to see whether LibreOffice or the printing subsystem is causing this problem.

So... i don't know if its a printer driver problem or openoffice.org problem (since all "normal" pages print correctly from the different programs) e.g. when i set the top margin to 0mm, it prints "correctly" on my brother HL-1440, when i set the top margin to 1mm, it starts printing at an offset of about 3cm from the top... which sucks because my labels start at 2,5cm. when i set it to 2,5cm, it prints at about 5cm from the top... so there is no way to get it "correctly" when i try printing the exact same page on my HP C5180 printer, it prints "allmost correctly" but still not good enough to put everything on the labels correctly. my pc is a standard ubuntu 8.10 with standard version of OOo (2.4) (latest patches) which i now tried to upgrade to 3.0.1-rcX for ubuntu. both have the same problem.
