I didn't speak about a media center software; all the media center I
have tried are unable to tag the photos and they allow only slideshows
of a directory. This is right if you have only a few photos but when
their number increases, I would like to run queries to extract all
images of a particular person or taken in a certain place. This is the
reason I'm using a dedicated software as kphotoalbum.
Moreover I don't want to connect my laptop to the TV.
I like a beautiful client device as the squeezebox's, connected to the
hifi amplifier and to the TV, able to get music, video and photos data
from my home server placed in another room.
I know that exist the multimedia hard disk but are too much generic
devices with the same problem as media center software.
Another important thing for me is that this device is based on open
source software, both server and client side. This is the reason I
bought the Squeezebox and when I seen the new Touch device with the USB
port I immediately thought about how to solve the problem of photos :-)

Yes I know, this embedded version of linux it is made by one of a last
linux kernel while the filesystem utilities are based on the busybox
project.

To start we might think to use a USB VGA converter for which exists the
driver source code.
Anyway in this forum section there is a thread titled "Creative uses for
the Touch"... I say that you could use it to manage and display photos! :-)
