Yes in this case trancoding is not an option, M$ would not allow this for other OS than windows for WMA lossles.
And beside how powerfull is the NV+ ? maybe transcoding is not an option anyhow (to many nas'es are underpowered.) dBpoweramp batch converter then ? or fobar2000 or ... whatever. There is many programs that can convert in one go.
