If done properly, no, lossless is lossless. With your volume issue, here is a quick (albeit unscientific) test: With Touch volume set at 100%, try playing a high quality Internet Radio feed, see if there is a big difference in volume between your ripped music and the internet stream. Set your amp/receiver volume very low to begin with.
