As long as the file's time last updated has changed, you should just need to do a 'new and changed' rescan.
One problem you may see, though, is that if a genre is removed from the library, as it might be when correcting a typo, then it may not be removed from the genre list. Say you mistakenly tagged something with 'Roc' and later changed it to 'Rock'. The old genre might remain after doing a 'new and changed' rescan. Squeezebox Server 7.6 is a lot better at handling this correctly, but 7.5 and earlier aren't.
