Have made a try with voyage-mpd linux dist 0.7 on a hard drive --> noclick : http://www.voyage.hk/download/voyage-mpd/voyage-mpd-current.tar.bz2 This minimum debian based dist have recents mpd/alsa updates and nothing more, and is designed for flash drive (reduce the number of rw). A tip: I have installed locale ISO-8859-1, avoiding problems with audio file with special chars: apt-get update apt-get install locales dpkg-reconfigure locales A nice site for audio tweaking, it's look this guy did not publish these efforts on DIYaudio, therefore is not depressed after too many rude comments: http://sites.google.com/site/computeraudioorg/ For those with a mac 10.6, try this freeware app, audirvana, it's in development, great sound.
