To turn off volume adjustment:

Use squeezeboxservers web-UI go to settings and then the player setting
tab .

choose the rigth player and then audio settings

And then find "Volume Adjustment/Replay Gain" set it to No volume
adjustment

The iTunes it uses "soundcheck" and squeezeboxserver uses that info
to.
But I hope it does go away if you turn off Volume Adjustment .
Maybe turning off soundcheck in iTunes too ?

When ripping to iTunes do set it to use Apple lossles instead of AAC or
mp3, so you get the same quality as your CD's
