Logitech is not fully up to speed on this bug.  I just bought a touch
last week and it exhibited the odd behavior you describe.  A call to
tech support and a diagnosis of a defective unit, and I shipped it back
to Amazon.

The new Touch seems to be better.  The were both running the latest,
non-beta version of the firmware.

Sounds like the might be a hardware QC and software issue.
