sorry, I'm a bit late it seems. About a cheap server solution: I've been running a SheevaPlug with the Squeezeplug image 24/7 for almost a year now without any problem. Of course, it doesn't have much horse power, but depending on what you need it might also do the job for you. http://squeezeplug.de/
