Do you see the large "CD Icon" on the screen? If not you are using the "no artwork" now playing screen. There are several now playing screens, you rotate between them by touching the middle of the screen when its in now playing mode. If you see the "CD Icon" where the cover art should be then you have a deeper problem that will take some more delving into.
