It's even easier from the web interface, as you have all of the genres
in front of you at once and you can easily see which ones are selected
and change them.

Yes. They're all subject to the selected genres, so if you select
random years and have only 'jazz' checked in genres, you'll get a
shuffled playlist of jazz tracks from some random year.

Yes, it's MUCH easier on system resources.

The web interface is also a good place to get a feel for how it works.
Anytime you play something you can immediately see the results in the
playlist.
