You could try never firmware than what is delivered with 7.5.1 ? There was a bug where the Touch did not work without an network connection, just sticking a cable to a switch or router or something provided "network" enough for it to work it did not need internet or anything just network . If you use DCHP it probably needs to get a network adress assigned, if it have a static address set just connecting it would be enough.
