I think you would need to do some serious coding to change the fundamental buttons on the touchscreen. But there is absolutely no reason you need to scroll back through multiple screens to get to the home menu. Either (a) press the back button and hold it for a couple seconds, or (b) do a quick left-to-right swipe and boom, you're right back at the home menu. One more button press and it's off.
