The daily on/off power jolts could cost you far more (by reducing the
lifespan of your equipment) than the very small amount of electricity
cost you're saving with the off cycle.

To use a timer (which itself is on 24x7 and must draw some number of
watts to operate) to switch off a < 10 watt device seems pointless.
