It's two different things. I'm confident you will somehow be able to get music from your Synology to your usb dac, but it won't be a Squeezebox experience. The interface with iPeng and all the available plugins are what make Squeezebox a great experience. If you just want a simple audio player that can play through your DAC, then LMS is probably not for you.
