After doing as TheLastMan explained, you need to go back into Settings/Plugins, find the Spotify Third Party plugin and click on "Settings" to the right. You can then enter your Spotify Username, password, select the preferred quality (e.g. 320 kbps) and choose whether to have volume normalisation enabled or disabled (I loath volume normalisation but some people find it useful).
