I'm looking at using a tablet. I got a Microsoft Surface RT which has
HDMI output. I can connect that to my Denon AVR and put the display up
on my projector. It even supports multiple screens so you can have
different things displayed on the tablet and the projectors.

The built in Music app works OK for ripped CD playback, but sort of
suffers if you try to play back high resolution mutli-channel audio. It
does work, but there's a lot of noise like it's not buffering enough
(which makes some sense). Plus the playback only works for WMA and MP3
and all of my music is in FLAC. But it did play back 5.1 channel, 96
kHz, 24-bit WMA lossless and output to all 6 speakers (and the AVR also
sent some to the two back channels for a "true" 7.1 surround.)

So, I'm just waiting for a FLAC player to become available for Windows
RT.
