"protected" AAC files from itunes will not play on a TOUCH (but will play on ipods, ipads, iphones, etc.). I don't think itunes sells protected files anymore, but you could still have some older ones. In itunes, right click on the column headings and tick "kind" to show as a column. Then look at some of these files that won't play. Do they say "protected" in the KIND column (note this is differerent from "purchased" in the kind column).
