Thanks for all the comments, here are some answers. SlimChances - I use the music folder and browse by artist/album.
aubuti - I use both servers but when accessing the PC I use LMS. It is LMS that I am talking about here i.e. I rescan the music folder (which has no dupes) yet LMS always shows multiple copies of some albums and even tracks - it is not a replica of the music folder. toby10 - no WAV files, all mp3. I do not use tags or playlists and before the last LMS rescan I deleted all the WMP music.
