I'm not sure if its best to use this thread or not, but I think the problem may be related to the November 24th change that Michael mentioned. I had trouble with some podcasts due to the https problem, and poking around the forums convinced me to upgrade to Jan 12 23:07 logitechmediaserver-7.9.0-0.1.1484126560.noarch.rpm and install perl-IO-Socket-SSL.noarch on my centos 6 box.
I tested with the https podcast which was failing and I thought all was good. However in time it looks like it broke a bunch of other podcasts. So when I try to connect to http://feeds.wnyc.org/wnyc_lopate the connection fails, and if try to play it again the connection still fails.
