Sorted it. Apparantly synology nas's having an internet connection problem is common. Sorted it by looking here https://jmetz.com/2016/09/handling-the-dreaded-synology-dsm-cannot-connect-to-the-internet-error/
Then did a factory reset on the touch, reinstalled the edo and everything is fine.
