Folks,
For the past week our UK cell has been plagued by a variety of problems, mainly
arising from a single failure which generated a fairly large backlog of faxes
waiting to be sent. Coping with the backlog has introduced problems of its own,
and service has been irregular for the past few days.
Service on this cell will be suspended overnight while engineers work to
address the problems and return the cell to it's former reliable state. At
that point, we will open the floodgates and begin processing the considerable
backlog.
If you have sent a fax via this cell and have not heard a result back, then you
can assume the job is still pending. If you got an ugly failure message (not
just a delay message, which would be non-fatal) then you should resubmit your
fax.
I will send two further announcements regarding the state of this cell to the
list. The first once it has returned to full service, and the second one when
the backlog has cleared. Hopefully this will help you determine whether you
need to re-send any important faxes.
We apologise for this problem, and assure you we're working hard to remedy it
as quickly (and as permanently) as possible.
