Hello,

I'd like to contribute an esperanto translation to the Trac project.
If I understand the documentation right I have to create a new ticket,
when I'm ready and attach a messages.po or a udiff file to it. Is this
ok for you?

Why not?

But be prepared to invest a lot of time, as we have currently something like 1080 messages and counting... I doesn't make sense to accept a translation which doesn't start with at least, say, 30% and with a maintainer showing motivation to reach complete coverage.

We have currently 7 translations with excellent coverage (> 98%), 5 with good coverage (> 80%) and I'm sure the German translation will soon join one of these groups ;-)

But we also have 8 between 50% and 70% (not that good), and the ones below 50%, I wonder if it's worth keeping them for the release, as a half translated interface won't look good. Not only that, but with fuzzy messages and unchecked translations, you're pretty sure to trigger lots of internal errors as well... (and this problem actually also concerns those from the "not that good" group).

I already removed those which only had less than 10% and had no sign of activity after the initial checkin, so I certainly wouldn't like to add one without a good initial coverage.
