Yes, it's possible to turn it off, see [changeset] wiki_format_messages 
(http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracIniMacro#changeset-section), but at 
the same time you'll  loose the ability to link to tickets and all the 
other Wiki formatting, which you'll get addicted to quickly ;)

We're interested in making the Wiki formatting more "friendly" for the 
typical commit log messages. What is wrong in your case, can you show us 
an excerpt of the commit log message?

Ah, note also that this "friendliness" has much improved in 0.10, in 
particular w.r.t "::", so maybe it's because you're still using 0.9.x, 
in which case I suggest that you upgrade... See for example 
http://trac.edgewall.org/ticket/2083.
