Sorry ... yet another update (I really need this solved). I enabled (file) logging in the project to see if there is anything telling but absolutely nothing is being logged. The log file gets written but it is completely empty after a request. It is at DEBUG level. How can nothing at all be logged?
My first thought after seeing that it the request isn't even making it to trac, but it must be because the error page has a trac title and some trac links. I'm really desperate here ... any advice would be appreciated.
