As discussed in the team, we intend to keep it like that, i.e., only support/facilitate parallel installation for developers and not encourage end users to have both installed. No big changes should be necessary for that as it's already possible to use a different installation prefix (and/or maybe autotools' binary suffix support). Is there a reason why tracker 0.7 should not be installed in /opt for the Fremantle use case? If there are still issues when using a parallel installation 0.6 and 0.7 in different prefixes, we should certainly address them.
