Hi all, As a bit of an experiment, after installing tracker 0.8.4, I decided to try deleting all of its data files, journal, config, etc. in order to see how a fresh install and index would run.
Admittedly I have a bit of a pathological case; my home directory has approximately 2.7 TiB of data, including both a collection of large media files (video and music) mixed with small development files (git clones of a large portion of gnome, the linux kernel, etc.) I've left the indexer processes running for about 24 hours now, and it has reached 83% complete. But I'm a bit worried about the memory usage: In the GNOME System Monitor, tracker-store is currently reported as using 9.9 GB of memory. The memory use has been steadily increasing with time; several hours ago (at around 60-70%) it was at about 5 GB of memory. There was also increased memory usage in gvfsd while this was occurring; it hit ~4.5 GB a while back, but has recovered to ~300MB since. My system's not unusable yet, due to having excessive amounts of both ram and swap, but needless to say, I'm a little concerned. Any ideas about why this could be? If you want me to try some debugging or profiling work, I'd appreciate some pointers on where to start. I'm willing to rerun this with changes as needed. (It's just a personal box, and I don't have any important info stored in tracker... yet.) -- Calvin Walton <calvin.wal...@gmail.com> _______________________________________________ tracker-list mailing list tracker-list@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/tracker-list
