I fixed this in a different way by using a private convenience library which the test suite can link against: http://git.gnome.org/browse/tracker/commit/?id=8a4a69b4c37333540bdb8ca8d15e10146ff56554 It would be great if you can review this patch and merge it for 0.12.2.
